Our Story

It started with the documents every business needs.

Bruno Goulet founded Business in a Box in Montreal in 2002. As an entrepreneur, he kept meeting capable, hard-working owners who were building everything from scratch—contracts, plans, policies, procedures—with no blueprint to follow.

So we started there: professionally written business and legal templates that owners could adapt and put to work the same day. That library has grown to more than 3,000 documents, and it is still at the heart of what we do.

But documents are only part of running a business. Our customers also needed a place to organize the work around them, bring their team in, and keep everything connected. So Business in a Box grew with them—into online storage, team tools, and today a connected workspace with AI built in.

Business in a Box is a Biztree Inc. company, founded and led by Bruno Goulet.

How we got here

2002 Business in a Box begins in Montreal with ready-to-use templates for the documents every business needs. Over the years that follow, the library grows with our customers.
2023 Cloud Drive brings business documents online, so teams can store, share, and work on them together.
2024 The template library passes 3,000 business and legal documents.
2025 Tasks, chat, inbox, HR, and Business AI join the platform, so the work around the documents has a home too.
2026 Business in a Box 3.0 brings it all together: one connected workspace for your team, your work, and AI.

Why we do this work.

I started Business in a Box because I kept seeing the same thing: talented, hard-working people carrying their whole business on their own shoulders. Not because they lacked ability—because they lacked a system.

More than twenty years later, that is still what drives us. Every template we write, every feature we ship, and every support conversation we have comes back to one question: does this make running a business a little easier?
